At eCommerce Nurse, we’re always keeping our eyes on the top Amazon search terms, basically, what’s in demand on the platform and what customers really want. For 2021, you can learn from the latest keyword trends we’ve spotted using our tools and strategy research.

It seems Amazon.com search terms are getting into the autumn spirit. It’s the season for pumpkin spice lattes all-round as the American population gets ready to celebrate the cooler weather. Bring on the fall decorations and sweaters! Here are our insights to optimise your content for seasonal patterns, growth, and potential niches. Check out the October 2021 edition keyword roundup.

Things are getting spooky

We can’t wait to see all the yards and houses decked out in ‘Halloween decorations’ as trick-or-treaters hit the streets on Halloween weekend. Customers got specific searching for 'Halloween decorations outdoor,' ‘Halloween decorations indoor,’ ‘Halloween inflatables,’ and even ‘Halloween lights.’ Let's face it, decorative lights are not just for Christmas anymore. And what's a night of trick-or-treating without stocking up on 'Halloween candy?'

Prep for Halloween spanned all categories on the site, with shoppers in the mood for scary ‘Halloween movies’ and ‘horror movies.’ Others were searching for a fresh new ‘projector’ to make it extra gruesome.

With many areas of the country within 2-day delivery, it's almost never too late to shop for ‘Halloween costumes.’ Customers are dressing to impress with ‘Halloween costumes for women,’ ‘womens Halloween costumes,’ ‘plus size Halloween costumes for women,’ and even eye-raising ‘sexy Halloween costumes for women’ all trending. Halloween isn't going to the dogs, with ‘Cruella DeVille costume women’ proving a favourite character this year. Some people just want to add a sprinkle of festivities without an elaborate costume, so ‘Halloween shirts for women’ popped into the top 200 this week.

Apparently not worrying about specifics, men are covering their bases with ‘Halloween costumes for men' ranking highly this week.

Red light, green light

Trending this month on and off-Amazon, the Korean Netflix series Squid Game is set to make an impact this Halloween. Fans of the series are searching for ‘squid game costume,’ ‘squid game,’ and ‘squid costume.’

Halloween could be 'ruff'

All members of the family are included in shopping this year. Pets are getting ready for those Halloween catwalks with ‘dog costume’ and ‘dog Halloween costumes’ both trending.

Pooches are also being pampered with ‘dog bed,’ ‘dog food,’ ‘dog toys,’ and ‘dog treats,’ for when they don their octopus or spider Halloween costumes.

Getting a jump on the nice list

It's important to shop early this year. Christmas is always coming, but a few giveaway terms signify that Q4 is upon us. ‘Christmas decorations’ and ‘Christmas tree’ popped up in the top 200.

All wrapped up

Autumn weather is well and truly here and the search terms on Amazon are a real giveaway, too. It’s time to wrap up in ‘womens fall clothes,’ ‘fall clothes for women,’ ‘fall dresses for women 2021,’ ‘sweaters for women,’ ‘boots for women,’ and ‘leggings for women’ slid comfortably into the top 200 search terms. Some customers are not feeling the cold quite yet, with ‘womens tops,’ ‘black dress,’ and ‘corset’ also in the top terms.

One trendy item, the ‘shacket’ is set to have your back with a shirt and jacket combo this season. And maybe a sign of long-haul travel making a comeback? ‘Compression socks for women' showed up in the top terms.

Home sweet home

As the nights draw in, we’re spending a bit more time at home. There's no time like the present to give your abode a little refresh and organisation boost. It seems all rooms in the house are getting a little love. Popular terms this week included: ‘Shower curtain,’ ‘bathroom rugs,’ ‘bathroom organizer,’ ‘room decor,’ ‘shoe rack,’ ‘coffee table,’ ‘curtains,’ ‘dresser,’ and ‘queen bed frame.’ From bathroom to bedroom, we hope you're feeling the feng shui.

Winter nights are also getting a bit sweeter with ‘candles’ and a ‘weighted blanket’ to snuggle under.

Covid is still rife with these ever-present pandemic favourites still hanging around. Customers are always looking for deals on the ‘face mask,’ ‘toilet paper,’ ‘paper towels,’ and the specific ‘black disposable face masks,’ which will look great with everything from office wear to Halloween costumes.
