At eCommerce Nurse, we’re always keeping our eyes on the top Amazon search terms, basically, what’s in demand on the platform and what customers really want. For 2022 you can learn from the latest keyword trends we’ve spotted using our tools and strategy research.

This month, we’re looking at Amazon.com and what the Americans are up to in June. Here are our insights to optimise your content for seasonal patterns, growth, and potential niches. Please enjoy the June 2022 edition of our Amazon keyword round-up.

Father's Day fun

Americans turned to Amazon to show Dad how much they care, searching for ‘father’s day gifts’ early in the month. The quick delivery and free returns never hurt, either. While users searched specifically for ‘fathers day gifts from daughter’ and ‘fathers day gifts from wife’ we’re not sure what happened to gifts from son?

Dressed for the occasion

It seems there is a dress for every occasion on Amazon, with more niches and speciality items being easier to shop for online. Ladies embraced the warmer weather and looked fancy with ‘summer dresses for women 2022’ hoping to find the latest and greatest. ‘Maxi dress for women’, ‘sundresses for women’ and ‘wedding guest dresses for women’ also climbed the charts. Some customers had specific events in mind, with ‘white dress women’ and ‘maternity dress’ being popular searches this month.

Apparel that makes a splash

While dresses led the apparel category, women also searched for the perfect ‘swimsuit women’ and ‘bathing suit for women’ for hitting the beach or pool. It seems that one suit does not fit all, as ‘one piece bathing suit’, ‘tankini bathing suits’, and ‘plus size swimsuit’ filled the list of searches. Customers not only spent time searching for suits, but also hoped to find the perfect swimsuit coverup for women. And for men? They kept it simple, with ‘mens swimming trunks’ being the only search to appear in the top searches related to gents’ swimwear. With all of that skin-baring, customers didn’t forget the ‘sunscreen’.

It seems customers have seen the light and took to Amazon to search for ‘sunglasses’ galore. Both ‘sunglasses womens’ and ‘sunglasses men’ made it into the top of Amazon searches this month, proving this essential accessory is a must-have for summer travel and fun.

Some 'shark slides' on Amazon.com

What is an outfit without the right shoes? Although ‘sandals’ climbed the charts and ‘Birkenstock sandals women’ appeared as a brand focus, the rest were somewhat more questionable. With ‘crocs womens’ and ‘crocs mens’ being popular searches. Not only are customers decking out their shoes with ‘croc charms', but there’s a new aquatic creature trend in town. Have you seen ‘shark slides’ yet? Because they’re taking a bite out of the search volume this month.

It's getting hot in here

The temperature is rising and Americans are attempting to keep cool with either ‘fans’ or ‘portable air conditioners'. They also stocked their ‘mini fridge’ or ‘cooler’ with ‘water bottles’ and shopped for ‘blackout curtains’ to make night-time heat tolerable. We hope all those folks are keeping chill and the delivery was on-time for the heat wave.

Some top-rated pool floats on Amazon.com this month

When it's hot inside and outside, the backyard is the place to cool off. Searching for ‘pool’ and ‘pool toys’ in time to make friends with the neighbours were a top priority for customers. They also updated their gardens with ‘solar outdoor lights’, ‘outdoor furniture’ and an ‘outdoor rug’ to relax around the ‘hammock’.

Off on a jet plane

This summer marks the great exodus as people jump on planes to experience something new and search for ‘travel essentials’. Travel is back on the agenda and people needed ‘luggage’, ‘power bank’ and ‘portable chargers’.  As long as they’re flying, customers also picked up ‘compression socks for women’. We hope it’s a comfortable flight!

Nailed it

Bestselling press-on nails on Amazon in June 2022

A new trend we've spotted this month is home nail art. From ‘nail polish’ and more specifically, ‘gel nail polish’, to ‘press on nails’ many customers are opting to do their nails themselves and using Amazon to collect all their supplies.

New and noteworthy

While we’ve only spotted a couple of single new search terms that are worth adding here, as people celebrated the end of school with ‘graduation party decorations 2022’. Perhaps those pandemic babies are starting to arrive as customers looked for ‘baby registry’ items. And while Top Gun 2 hit theatres, customers caught up on Mr. Cruise and company, with ‘Top Gun’ in the top of the rankings this month.
