The Amazon product review is a crucial piece of information for customers. Shoppers trust Amazon and rely on Amazon product reviews. For sellers, having quality, legitimate product reviews and solid product ratings can increase conversion and accelerate sales on your products. According to Amazon’s anti-manipulation policy, “Any attempt to manipulate reviews, including by directly or indirectly contributing false, misleading or inauthentic content, is strictly prohibited.” With integrity on the line, how do sellers solicit legitimate and authentic reviews in a scalable way?

One easy solution is using FeedbackFive’s Request a Review tool, provided by our partners at eComEngine. Helpful and efficient, the tool also now offers an even easier way to manage review requests that sellers can automatically schedule.

What is Request a Review?

Amazon’s Request a Review makes it easy for sellers to solicit reviews directly from the Seller Central dashboard. On the Manage Orders page, click the order to see Order Details. There is a button on the top right.

Amazon Request a review

This triggers a process that solicits a product review and seller feedback in an email on the seller’s behalf. This has many benefits:

  • The standardized message appears to customers in their chosen language (automatically translated).
  • The text reads: “Your opinion matters! Seller <name> requests you to share your experience for your recent order with other Amazon shoppers. Please take a moment to review your recent Amazon purchase.”
  • The customer cannot respond to the message, but only provide a rating.
  • Requests are timely, and can only be sent in the window of 4 to 30 days after the buyer receives their delivery.

There are also some downfalls. Mainly, this is a manual process. The seller cannot customize the message and cannot respond. For larger sellers, this is likely not a scalable way to solicit reviews.

What is FeedbackFive?

FeedbackFive is a software tool that allows Amazon merchants to track, manage, and improve their seller and product reputations. Launched in 2007, the tool has been used by thousands of sellers over the years. FeedbackFive automatically follows up with Amazon buyers to politely request feedback and reviews on a seller’s behalf. FeedbackFive also offers the ability to customize your messaging in addition to analysing order data to help you make decisions for your business.

How FeedbackFive automates your communication processes

FeedbackFive allows you to ask for reviews with Amazon Request a Review or Amazon Buyer-Seller Messaging. One of the most complicated issues surrounding Buyer-Seller Messaging and interaction with buyers is Amazon’s stringent Communication Guidelines. Sellers cannot contact buyers for marketing or promotional reasons. This covers a range of language that cannot be used, including that sellers cannot incentivize product reviews, cannot ask for a positive review, cannot have more than one request for a review or seller feedback, cannot have logos or links to your website, etc. You can create and automate messages with FeedbackFive, but you need to make sure that your message is compliant with all Amazon policies.

When it comes to the Request a Review automation feature in FeedbackFive, the messaging is always going to be 100% compliant with Amazon’s terms of service, since it comes directly from Amazon. These requests can even be used by sellers who are currently  experiencing Buyer-Seller Messaging restrictions. Amazon automatically avoids sending these requests to buyers who have opted out, already left you a feedback or review rating, or haven’t yet received their order.

“With this new feature, we are able to offer our sellers a secure and 100% compliant solution for requesting reviews and feedback at scale. It's a challenge for our customers to build their seller reputations while also deciphering all of the seller communication guidelines, so this is a positive step towards addressing both of those needs,” said eComEngine product manager Louis Mizzell.
